Director’s Report

—Lisa Walters, Acting Chairman

Welcome to the official EponaQuest Foundation site.

Since our inception in 2010, our board of directors has been busy building the four operational pillars of our foundation and we are proud to say that we are now officially “open for business.” Below is a brief description of these pillars. The first three are designed to support practitioners in the Equine Facilitated Experiential Learning (EFEL) field as well as related subsets of EFEL such as, Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP) and (?). The last one, outreach and education, will serve to educate and reach out to the general public about the merits of EFEL programs offered throughout the country.

Best Practices:

We offer our Best Practices guidelines on our website, as a guide to basic professionalism within our field. By adhering to these standards, which have been developed by industry leaders, you will be contributing to the betterment of our entire industry and honoring the equines that make this all possible.

Research and Curriculum Development:

As an ongoing part of our foundation, we are looking for sound scientific research to include in our resources. We are particularly interested in research that will aid in developing industry standards and deepen our understanding of horse-human interactions. Good sound research will serve as a self-reflective tool to help us all develop better curriculum and best practices that benefit both equines and humans.

Pass-Through Funding Service:

We are accepting applications for our 501c-3 pass-through service for non-profit benefits. Our application process has been specifically designed to help applicants organize their program information for potential funders of their programs or organizations. We have developed our check-list and application forms based on successfully funded NPO business plans. Again, by adhering to industry standards and utilizing a professional format, funders will be more likely to have confidence in your program and will be more likely to provide funding.

Outreach and Education:

The EponaQuest Foundation will continuously update and offer information about EFEL to the general public. We aim is to be a resource, providing links to related information and services that support all our efforts.

Again… Welcome to our site. Please feel free to make suggestions and contact us if you have questions. We see this an an ongoing, continuously developing process to better serve both horses and humans in the process of self-empowerment and self discovery.
